Holiday & Tourist Guide and Lifestyle Magazine Spirit of Fuerteventura - Ed 28. Find here a brief review about the articles in this edition.

Welcome to Spirit of Fuerteventura - Edition 28

welcome_sr28Dear reader – resident or tourist – I wish you a warm welcome on the first issue 2013 of Spirit of Fuerteventura®! Yes, indeed, it has been a long time since we met last time, but you haven’t been out of my thoughts. And it seems that it is reciprocal, as many loyal readers kept asking me for the next issue of Spirit of Fuerteventura®. Heart-warming and giving me that confident feeling that “I must be somehow on the right track”. Well, dear readers, I will do my best not to disappoint you and to make the coming issues of “Spirit” even better. And I thank you hereby, dear readers and customers, for your comments and support to make all this possible.

- First I would like to inform you that as from 2013 the magazine “Spirit of Fuerteventura®” will be issued every 6 months, but with even more practical information and interesting articles – about the island or from abroad. Issue times are May-Oct and Nov-Apr. Distribution points will stay the same.

- Second I would like to present our new development in print on which we have been working since end of last year: “BiDi-Fuerteventura®”. It is a foldable guide that covers the North and the South in two separate issues and that is built around a new but increasingly popular information system: the scanning of QR codes by mobiles or tablets to connect to dedicated web pages. More technical details on the next pages. “BiDi-Fuerteventura®” focuses on compressed printed and multilingual info, connection to the web and a wider distribution thanks to a higher amount of copies.

The magazine Spirit of Fuerteventura® and the folder BiDi-Fuerteventura® are thus each others complement: the magazine provides articles and in-depth island info and the folder is an easy & handy-to-take-away holiday companion.

- Third I would like to introduce a newcomer in our family: the Spirit of Fuerteventura Hiking & Biking platform of Spirit which will dedicate itself to providing complete and useful information about where, when and how to discover this lovely island in the best way: by feet or by bike. There will be articles about Walking/Biking in each issue of Spirit of Fuerteventura® and the specially designed website will be providing all relevant info and state-of-the-art presentations. Have a look… and be astounded. More info on the next pages.

We will continue to provide interesting suggestions for getting more out of your well-deserved holiday: tasting local products, visiting local crafts people, participating in local events. The info about the latter activity can be found on Fuertebook, a website of one of our co-operators and truly informative. More info on the next pages.

I wish you a nice holiday and an enjoyable reading.

Michel

Fuerteventura has magnificent beaches situated in privileged places and the sand there does offer us a practically unlimited variation of colours.

_MG_9116 Artificial Grass – Benefits for you and for Fuerteventura. When you drive along urban roads and see how much effort is being done to create green islands of natural grass and keep them in good shape, you may wonder why humans always want to fight the elements instead of keeping them as your friend.

Beauty & Wellness - Fuerteventura: Modern Relationships.
relationships-10 Modern relationships differ from “older” ones in the way that nowadays people can be more open about their preferences and expectations. Females enjoy more freedom in most western societies and this has an important influence on their self-consciousness and ego. The “romantic ideal” of life-time relationships is – slowly but steadily – transformed into a more pragmatic attitude towards partnerships.

Beauty & Wellness - Fuerteventura: Aloe Vera Fresca
aloe-vera
Everybody talks about Aloe Vera and you literally can buy it on each corner of the street, including in "bazaars" where they are on display between slippers and other "stuff". Philippe Laurent, a certified "Art Chef Pastry" from Annecy, France and Vanessa started their French pastry business on the Corralejo circumvention in March 2010. Since then the business grew steadily, despite the actually unfavourable economic conditions. Philippe's story, in fact, starts in 1920, the year in which his grandfather Pierre Laurent began his Pastry Shop in Annecy. A couple of years after - in 1924 - he creates "Le Roseaux du Lac Annecy", a pastry based on coffee and chocolate. It soon becomes an international reference for the city of Annecy. Father Bernard continues the tradition with success, together with his brother Jacques.

People & History - Fuerteventura: Murphy B Good.
Cotillo--Murphy-291 Murphy B Good - Freedom and Connection by Music... Murphy's exploration to music starts at the age of 5 with his first guitar. Already at that age he sensed a feeling that he later recognised as truly freedom - of mind and emotions. His curiosity guided him into a journey to develop his own perception and expression of emotions through the music. The ability to listen is crucial to him and his creativity. His music is very recognisable and has much to do with a jazzy chilling out and relaxing with a funky touch. His influences are Miles Davis, Jimmy Hendrix, Prince, Johnny Guitar Watson and many more.
