"Cats achieve easily something that humans fail to: go through life without making noise"

Spirit of Fuerteventura welcomes you on their page “Home & Property” where you can find info on different topics like interior and exterior home decoration, gardens, pools, spas, plants, pets (dogs, cats, etc), OKAPI - a non-profit organisation to help animals, recipes, etc and about real estate opportunities and -maintenance.

I was called by our vet in February of 2009 and she said that there was a cat trapped in a cellar. Nor the police, neither the firemen were prepared to free the poor animal, so I decided to meet up with the vet. When we arrived, we witnessed a devastating situation. The cat must have been trapped there for a while as she was skinny and totally without a fur. We organised a ladder and I managed to climb through a small window into an extremely dirty room.

I was unable to catch the cat, but we got her In 5 mins after setting a trap. Heiner, as we called her , had to stay a couple of days at the vet for observation. She was diagnosed to have Notoedric mange (Notoedres cati) and a cold. Both diseases were treated. Once at home, Heiner developed into a hugging animal, but had to stay in a box for 6 weeks as the Notoedric mange is highly contagious. Right now he is walking around and enjoying life. In short he will be transferred to a new home in Germany to a lovely people with 3 other cats. One of them also comes from Fuerteventura.

Greetings,

Cat Woman Karin (I got this nickname from the vet after our cat hunt).
