Hay unas 350 especies distintas y subespecies de Limonium definidas por los botánicos y solamente se puede encontrar una de ellas aquí en la isla de Lobos, más específicamente en una pequeña laguna. La subespecie Canaria del Limonium Ovafolium solo es de unos 12cm de alto y tiene hojas en forma de pala con pequeñas flores lila. Esta planta vive sobre suelos arenosos humedecidos con agua salada.
