Dear reader and customer, now that we enter in the 5th year of the publication of our magazine, I wish to thank all of you for your interest and support. Without this, Spirit of Fuerteventura would not have become what it is today: a multilingual guide about our beloved island and about a way of life. Special thanks to many loyal customers who continued to pull the rope together with us, although times were difficult - both, for them and for us. We faced the worldwide financial crisis, we underwent the clashes between local management and some air carriers and we took the volcanic ash cloud. Now, for the first time in 3 years, signs are more positive and hopes for a better season do grow. Let's take this chance to put our best foot forward and let's be very grateful for this opportunity. Right now many people - too many people - are in the line of fire to fight for some freedom - or even for their bare life. The coverage about the recent developments in the world have brought us much closer and almost in real time to the scene of action. Through these horrible and devastating images, we became some part of it. Compassion and help came instantly as disaster got a face. Through these shocking events, we became more a world citizen and felt in connection with the victims. We also took or will take lessons from it; especially about haughtiness and what this can lead to. The answer to that is modesty and connectedness. Fuerteventura, through its simple and pure beauty and its peacefulness can contribute to develop this vital behaviour. Fuerteventura not only is a holiday destination, but is a destination as such...
