OKAPI, a lot of volunteers and visitors succeeded on the 29 of August to collect about 1.500,- Euros for the rescue, feeding and medical assistance of the more than 300 abandoned animals in the municipal perreras. In the name of those pets: "Thank you all for your kind support".|

„Annual Cocktail Party & Gourmet Dinner at El Patio de Lajares on 13/08/2011.“ The annual Cocktail Party & Gourmet Dinner at El Patio de Lajares was, again, an exclusive event and a culinary experience. The scenery, the mouth-watering delicacies, the drinks and wines, and the service… it all came to harmony and made this evening unforgettable. Rainer was the only man standing in the kitchen and still managed to prepare the dishes on time for all those present. Hanna attended all tables with her love and care and let us feel welcome. III Festival de la Canción - Fuerteventura. Las Fiestas del Rosario 2011 serán del 23 de septiembre al 07 de octubre. El “III Festival de la Canción Isla de Fuerteventura”, se incluye dentro del marco de las Fiestas Patronales de Nuestra Señora del Rosario 2011. Los participantes pueden inscribirse hasta el 12 de septiembre.Como novedad en las fiestas de la capital destaca la celebración del “Top Dance Canarias. I Campeonato de Hip-hop y Funky de Canarias”. Como miembros del jurado estarán Maribel del Pino profesora del popular programa a nivel nacional de TV “Fama, a bailar”. Fidel Buika, coreógrafo de fama internacional y Noelia Torres, coreógrafa destacada en diferentes actuaciones. Los participantes pueden inscribirse hasta el 30 de agosto. Las bases, tanto del “III Festival de la Canción Isla de Fuerteventura”, asi como del “I Campeonato de Hip-hop y Funky de Canarias” pueden ser consultadas en el Departamento de Fiestas del Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario o en la página web municipal : www.puertodelrosario.org

View here the video clips on the music festival FuerteMusica in Cotillo. The yearly music festival "Fuerteventura en Musica" or "FuerteMusica" in short was held this year on 1&2/07 in Cotillo. The groups that performed were: Day2: Alex Cuba, Domu Africa Dub Squad, Dervish, Juan Perro The musical link between the groups was done by DJ Pablo DUB. Situated in the beautiful scenery of the Cotillo beaches, the festival was once again a winner. Have a look for yourself:
Shooting Stars over Fuerteventura! Orionids Meteor Shower - October 21, 22. The Orionids is an average shower producing about 20 meteors per hour at their peak. This shower usually peaks on the 21st, but it is highly irregular. A good show could be experienced on any morning from October 20 - 24, and some meteors may be seen any time from October 17 - 25. The nearly last quarter moon may hide some of the faintest meteors this year. Best viewing will be to the east after midnight. Be sure to find a dark location far from city lights.

Asteroid 2005 YU55 Flyby - November 8. An asteroid known as 2005 YU55 will make a close approach to the Earth. The large space rock, about 1,300 feet in diameter will pass closer than the Moon at 0.85 lunar distances. While it is not expected to pose a threat to the Earth, this extremely rare event presents a unique opportunity for amateur astronomers to observe the asteroid as it makes it closest approach to our planet. Many astronomy groups are planning to observe the event. Asteroids this large only pass close to the Earth about every 30 years.

Desde hace ya cinco años, su propietario, Pierre Houbrechts y su perro, un cocker spaniel llamado Casper, se asentaron en la isla y crearon lo que llaman un "bar chill out". El Casper's Bar es un lugar en el que disfrutar de un ambiente relajado y una atmósfera tranquila, con un decorado muy particular. El Casper's cuenta con sillones cómodos adornados con cojines de colores, paredes coloridas y mesas que imitan los estilos de los jardines clásicos, pero es en el suelo donde se encuentra parte de su encanto. "Arena fuera, hierba dentro", bromea su dueño, porque parte del local tiene una base de césped, con sus mesas y encima y sus sillones alrededor, como una parte más del decorado. Una particularidad que lo acerca a la tranquilidad, al ambiente chill out, pero que no lo aleja de la modernidad, por lo que todos los clientes tienen acceso gratuito a la conexión wi-fi que ofrecen dentro del local. Hurley and Las Gatas organise their 2nd Fashion Show at Boardriders. On Sat 23/04 at 21:00 Hurley and Las Gatas showed their collection of summer clothing at the famous Bar/Restaurant Boardriders in Corralejo. Las Gatas presented a new collection of exclusive Italian fashion designs and Hurley showed their summer and beach wear. The event was spiced by DJ Sylvia's music and the evening continued with "High Tide" the famous Blues-Rock-Funk band from the UK. All together a vibrant night with Dinner, Cocktails, Shows, Music & Dance. Whatelse do you need? Hurley, Boardriders and Las Gatas are located in the shopping centre "El Campanario". 6th INTERNATIONAL BLUES FESTIVAL CORRALEJO - FUERTEVENTURA.
(by Spirit of Fuerteventura) The Blues Festival Corralejo 2011 included three main activities: the stage performances on the square Patricio Calero - Corralejo by 6 groups, the street performances by many local musicians and the frequent guest performances of the group High Tide in the Boardriders Bar/Restaurant in the popular shopping Centre El Campanario.
